Distinctives
Why should you make Open Door Baptist your church home? Here are some of our
distinctives:
- We are an independent Baptist church, meaning that we are not bound to a particular
denominational hierarchy.
- We believe in the fundamental doctrines of the faith, including the verbal inspiration and
inerrancy of Scripture, the virgin birth of Christ, Christ's substitutionary atonement and bodily
resurrection, and the deity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Trinity).
- We believe in fulfilling the Great Commission through personal evangelism at home and
abroad, through baptism by immersion of new converts, and through teaching believers the
uncompromising Word of God.
- We preach and teach from the King James Version of the Bible, believing that it is based on
the best Greek and Hebrew texts.
- We believe that God created the world in six literal, twenty-four hour days.
- We reject the extremes of both Calvinism and Arminianism. As such, we believe in the eternal
security of the believer, but reject the five points of Calvinism (TULIP).
- We use traditional Gospel music in our worship services.
- We believe in the necessity of holiness as demonstrated in both personal and ecclesiastical
separation.
- We are dispensational, pre-millennial, and pre-tribulational in our eschatology.
- We reject the excesses of the Charismatic movement.
